Buckhead Backyard Transformation

For this Buckhead backyard transformation, we turned a 2,000 sq/ft sod monoculture on a steep hill into a multi-tiered ecological paradise complete with walking trails, native wildflower meadows, raised garden beds, a tile patio, and dozens of fruit trees and berry bushes.

During the construction process we removed all of the sod and built three boulder retaining walls to reduce the grade of the slope. By doing so, we made the site much more walkable, prevented rainwater from flowing off site - giving it time to infiltrate into the soil, and made way for the various ‘outdoor rooms’ to follow. We then brought in thousands of pounds of soil and mulch and got to work creating the soft scape.

This site now consists of twenty-seven blueberry bushes, two serviceberry trees, two pomegranate trees, two asian persimmon trees, three citrus trees, three pawpaw trees, three hazelnut trees, two elderberry trees, six pineapple guava shrubs, four blackberry vines, an herbal tea garden, four raised garden beds, a culinary herb garden, and over one thousand native, perennial flowers and grasses.
